[1000mp] CQWW RTTY Contest

I dabbled in the CQWW RTTY contest this weekend with very puny signal (my 
callsign has nothing to do with a big gun signal - only what's in my 
holster).  I haven't been on RTTY in 14 years.  I managed to get setup on 
Saturday and 2 questions came to mind from this fun experience:

I have both the 250Hz & 500Hz filters in the Yaesu 1000mp Field.  The 250 is 
to narrow to tune but the 500 is perfect using the IF shift to put the 
excess passband in the direction I'm tuning and the bandwidth to handle QRM. 
Is their an easier way to chose between the 250 & 500 w/o going through the 
menu?

Why is menu item 6-1 RTTY Polarity backwards?
