There is also a new roofing filter option from INRAD which is just starting
to be employed, mostly by contesters. Like the INRAD front-end mod mentioned
by Earl and others, it goes in front of the IF and essentially replaces the
wide first filter with a much narrower one. It's an either-or situation--you
cannot have both. This mod improves close-in dynamic performance, such as
when, in a contest, a very strong station is operating close to the one you
are trying to copy.

Your choice is whether to improve your noise floor or your strong-signal
performance. I have the original mod installed, but am waiting for my narrow
roofing filter.

Hello my name is Jeff, KT2K.  I just purchased
a stock 1000 MP and was going to have Tim Moes
check it out and perform any mods to take care of
some of the issues/problems with the stock rig..

Can someone suggest the mods that *should* be done
to a stock MP to improve it?
