My advice would be, don't bother with the ALC connection. Older amps like
the 30L1 were designed to connect to the tube transceivers of the same
era. Just make sure that you are properly adjusting your transceiver, that
you are not overdriving the amplifier, and that the amplifier is properly
loaded. Amplifier authorities (I'm not one of them) suggest setting the
Loading control on the amplifier a little clockwise ("heavier loading")
from the position that gives maximum output, to improve signal quality on SSB.
