[1000mp] installation new roofing filter

I found the install very easy (Field) for any who may not
want to attempt it. Merely solder 2 straight #22 wires to
act as connector pins. The solder points are already there.
No need to remove any boards. The pins then supply 5v to
the Inrad board. I'm sure it took me longer to get the
case off and on than actual time to do the mod.

This is subjective but in my location (NJ) I found the
receiver to be quieter. It's rare the bands are quiet here
just from manmade pollution. The bigger problem it has
solved for me is qrm from CB channel 6 when on 10 meters.
These guys spew garbage for at least 1 mhz either side of
their freq. I've gone to listen to them which is not an easy
task because they are so distorted. Best I can figure these
bozos run between 750w and 1kw AM! Also seems many CB shops
now recommend removing any hint of alc in CB rigs.

One such clown was on before I did the mod and I could hear
his signal almost up to 28.050. He was still on when I
finished. Now he was gone within 55khz. His freq - 27.025
with the roofing filter he was almost gone at 27.075 and not
detectable at 27.080. I'd call this a worst case scenario.
In my view if the filter accomplished this feat then results
on the ham bands should be gratifying. One more thing, the
above "test" was done with IPO off. I rarely find a need for
it to be on.
