[1000mp] Roofing filter impressions after CQ WW CW contest

Good evening all,

I did my two MP's this past weekend. The biggest deal is removing the
scresw from the cover. I removed the IF amp mods and installed the roofing
filters in both radios in approximately 30 minutes. One IF amp module is
sold; the other is available for $35 including shipping, US only.

I did some casual checks on 160 Meters Saturday night and both radios seemed
to perform well. The band was not loaded so no 40+ over 9 CQers were
available to do a hard core test. That will come this next weekend.
However, I I noted less problems with my own transmit signal when receiving
on the 2nd radio. That is going to be as much a PLUS as the other strong
signals nearby.

Will setup at W7MCO's location and will do a M/O as N7GP for the ARRL 160.
After that melee I will further report on my "ind the dogfight" findings.

Milt, N5IA

Try it you will like it.

I found that it went in very smoothly -- I did the key click mod at the same
time. I have some pictures for an FT1000MP but the ones at VA3CR for the
FT1000MK V are close enough. Send me an email direct if anyone wants the MP
pictures.

I have my 9-1 IF gain set at 1 point less than it was when I received the
radio. I actually adjusted the gain to the integer which gave me the closest
value for a -73dBm signal displaying an S9 meter reading on 14.000 MHz.

I have one of the INRAD IF mod kits for sale -- $35 plus shipping -- I will
ship outside the US if requested.

Tod, KØTO
