What you describe is exactly how the radio works and there is no way to
change this operation of the MkV. Once the radio is in M.TUNE mode, it
remains in that state until you press the MEM button again to return to the
memory function.
I agree that the way in which Icom handles this situation seems more
logical.

Subject: [1000mp] Mark V Field: Memory Tune
Have a Mark V Field with about 40 frequencies in memory. When in memory
mode I can use my mic up/down buttons to move up and down the memory
channels to the frequency I want. However, after going to the selected
memory postion/channel and using the Main VFO-A tuning knob to tune around
that frequency the rig goes into M.TUNE mode. Okay..I understand the point
of this. However, once in M.TUNE if I use my mic up/down buttons the rig
begins to scan instead of moving to another memory position/channel.
My Icom rig doesn't do this...I can go to a memory channel, tune around, and
use my mic up/down buttons to go to the next channel.
Is there anyway I can modify / configure the Mark V Field to work like the
Icom in this regard?
thanks,
