Sounds like the 31 auto tuner memories are full. Clear the tuner (and all other memories) out by turning off the radio. Then push the "SUB" and "ENT" buttons on the frequency keypad while pressing the "Power" on button.
If you want to save your 99 frequency memories first before clearing them out then download the MpMem software written by K6SE. You can download it on the VA3CR FT-1000MP site at http://www.va3cr.net/index/software.html . MpFilters is also a neat piece of software because it allows you to independently select any filter arrangement like you could on the original FT-1000MP.

Subject: [1000mp] Very Sloooow Tuner
I sold my MKV about six months ago. Realizing my mistake, I recently purchased another (used, 200-w version). In my "new" MKV, I have noticed that the tuner is very slow; matches take a minimum of 30 seconds and often longer. It also seems that the tuned frequencies are not being held in memory since I have to retune after returning to a previously tuned frequency. I have done the reset to clear the tuner memories; that does not seem to help the problem. Any ideas, or am I looking at a 125 mile road trip to Yaesu for servicing?
