First of all, you will have to load this file:

http://www.mixw.net/RigExpert/reaudio.html
This makes the Rigexpert a standard sound card. Not a virtual one.

 From the rigexpert site"
"Using the REAUDIO driver, MixW RigExpert becomes a standard sound card,
making possible operating digital modes with any sound card software. It
was tested with MixW2, DigiPan, MMTTY, MMSSTV, MT63, STREAM, Hellschreiber,
Argo and Domino programs."

With this loaded the SOUND CARD should work with Writelog.

BUT the virtual COM port is somewhat of a mystery. It looks like the com
port that is used for rig control is not available for any program to use.
I.e. Writelog.

If they were to change this "feature", then you could just assign the
com-port that is assigned to the Rigexpert in Writelog as the rig port and
away you go!

Without being able to do this, I'm afraid you're out of luck. Talk to the
Rigexpert folks and let them know what your trying to do. They may be able
to assist.

It looks to me that they may want to keep things a little prioriaptiory. In
other words, they want you to be limited to their software? Something to
question them about. If their box would work with Writelog, I would most
likely (and I'm sure others would also) like to have one to use with
Writelog here in my shack.

Please keep me updated to your progress!

73 and good luck!
