A typical soundcard puts out a signal that
is 60 dB too hot (volts) for the mic or patch input of The FT1000MP
(millivolts).

Turn down the mic/line out volume slider inside Windoze volume control
application or digital mode software.

Fooling with outboard attenuators is a pain, because you probably won't have
enough "juice" to drive other rigs.....
