I am having the same problem. The receiver de-senses intermittently
after key-up, to the level of several tens of dBs. The noise floor
drops as well. The problem goes away when I transmit a 'dit', but
only for a few seconds.
I took out the T/R relay and checked it with a multi-meter and a 12V
supply. It appears to be OK, but I am more or less convinced it is
the T/R relay (RL6016). It is very much an intermittent problem. The
radio has 8 years of contesting and a major DXPN behind it.
The problem I am having is with the replacement part. The local Yaesu
dealer has a fast-track charge of (the equivalent of) US$67, and even
then it will take 6 weeks ex-JA....and the cost of the part comes on
top of that.
If someone is aware of a mail-order stockist of Yaesu parts (without
the rediculous lead-time), then please drop me a line. We need the
radio for the WPX-CW. Alternatively, a footprint-compatible part from
any of the major component houses would be good.
