If it ain't broke, there is no reason to fix (sell) it, and you may never
encounter the problem. Consider yourself to have dodged a bullet.

A lot of people with recalled vehicles never had a problem either---but
those whose experiences sparked the recall may have suffered injuries of
death.

For what it's worth...

I enjoy reading the various MP topics on this reflector, and am always a
little nervous to read lots of comments about sticky relays, dead
receivers, dim control panels, etc., etc.

I just thought I'd pass along my experience. My MP is a 1998 model
which I bought used in 1999. The only problem I've had is a solder
connection to the front panel earphone jack that became intermittent
after lots of use. I repaired that and it's been fine ever since. None
of the problems frequently mentioned on the reflector have plagued me.
I did the W8JI mod and people say it sounds great doing QRQ CW.

I'll bet there are some other happy MP owners out there. Sure, I'd love
to have an Orion, but I still enjoy the rig I've got, and can't think of
a specific reason to throw it out and get an Orion, other than the fun
of having a new toy.

73,
Tom / W7GT
