[1000mp] sticking relay problem and W8JI mod.

Tod:

People hold onto lemons and poorly designed products for several reasons,
among them:

* There is the concept of emotional ownership.
* The good features may be perceived as outweighing the bad.
* Selling implies a financial loss and the inconvenience of going through
the sale process, and accommodating the new purchase (station wiring, etc.)
* The existing unit may be flawed, but is a known quantity, while a new unit
is an unknown quantity--the frying pan and the fire.

People also hold onto bad marriages and losing investments---for similar
reasons.

I have no immediate plans to sell my MP, with its load of added-cost INRAD
filters, INRAD IF mod, and the click mod. But, when it is time to move on, I
am likely not to move to another Yaesu, unless and until I am convinced they
are listening to their customers.

Hunter:

Please note that while people have muttered about the relay problem and the
W8JI mod, there seems to be no rush to get another radio. This decision to
"hold on" to the radio is a typical of those who have used the FT1000,
FT1000D, FT1000MP, FT1000MV and FT1000-Field. Maybe it is similar to Boston
Red Sox fans or the fans in Chicago --- no matter what happens you stay with
the team.

I really think it is because the radio is very "satisfactory". You probably
should not 'dump' your radio until you decide the new Orion and you were
MFEO (made for each other) after using it a bit. You might end up wishing
you had your old radio once again.
