[1000mp] sticking relay problem and W8JI mod.

Actually, I was just kidding. When I was in the market for a new radio, =
I subscribed to the Icom and Yaesu reflectors, and read all of the =
reviews I could find on the Orion, the IC756ProII, the IC746PRO, and the =
FT1000MV Field. With the exception of the new technologies in the =
Orion, the rest of the radios appeared to be generally comparable. I =
went to HRO several times and played with the Icoms and the FT1000MV. =
Ultimately, it was the wonderful full audio of the Yaesu that carried =
the day. It made the Icoms sound like cheap table radios. Given the =
discounted price (reflecting a model change in the offing no doubt) =
there was simply no other rational choice. Now that I have been using =
the radio for about a month, I could not be happier with my acquisition. =
I hear stations I never would have copied with my previous rigs (IC737 =
and IC706) and find the DSP and filtering to be superb. If you pay too =
much attention to the comments and reviews on the Internet, you would =
not purchase any radio. No radio is perfect, but the FT1000MV certainly =
has increased my enjoyment of our hobby. 73

Hunter:

Please note that while people have muttered about the relay problem and =
the
W8JI mod, there seems to be no rush to get another radio. This decision =
to
"hold on" to the radio is a typical of those who have used the FT1000,
FT1000D, FT1000MP, FT1000MV and FT1000-Field. Maybe it is similar to =
Boston
Red Sox fans or the fans in Chicago --- no matter what happens you stay =
with
the team.

I really think it is because the radio is very "satisfactory". You =
probably
should not 'dump' your radio until you decide the new Orion and you were
MFEO (made for each other) after using it a bit. You might end up =
wishing
you had your old radio once again.
