[1000mp] Field band data jack

Please disregard my incorrect response to question #2 below. Had I merely
stood up and peeked at the back of my own Top Ten decoder, I would have
noted the separate RCA cable from the Top Ten's key jack to the amp--instead
of relying upon my increasingly suspect memory. Dave, N3RD's reply is
certainly the correct one--he oughta know. I "think" I may have
retroactively updated my older decoder to configure it as Dave discusses.

Comments after each question...

I'm sure I'm not the first to ask this question:

I have a Field that I want to connect to both a Top-Ten Devices band
decoder and
an Alpha 99 amplifier. Currently, it is connected to the Top-Ten box and
works fine.
In order to add the Alpha 99 QSK, I have to use the same jack.

#1- is the 8 pin jack a standard DIN connector?

>>Yes---BUT there are two different pin configurations. Damned if I know
which one is "standard"--but I have never seen the Yaesu (Kenwood, also)
jack in a store. You can order the plug directly from Yaesu.

#2 Does anyone know of a source for a M-F-F wye connector?

>>You don't need to go that way. W2VJN of INRAD--who is a partner in Top
Ten--sells cables for the decoder, and he will happily sell you one for your
MP that provides a separate keying line for your Alpha.

...

After 41 years on the air, this is my first Yaesu HF rig. It is OK, but it
sure does
have a lot of irritating quirks.

>>Yes, it sure does.
