Hi Bill...
welcome in the club :-(
I had the same problem as you descibed it (FT-1000MP Mark V Field),
not in CW but when switching from main antenna to the RX antenna=20
and back.
When switching back to the main antenna I loose RX sensitivity.=20
starting seldom...but the failure happen more and more with the
time.
A short push to the PTT brings the sensitivity back.
Sometimes it also happen, when switching to VRF and back and
when switchning the transceiver ON.
As I am afraid to wait weeks or month due to the repair work at
Yaesu I thought I could identify the relays at the RF-Unit as the=20
=B4bad boys=B4.
I exchanged the RL1002 and RL1005 with the original relay types.
With this =B4repair=B4 experiance....I can only advice not do it.
It=B4s a senitive desoldering and soldering work and there is a=20
high risk to demage the complete RF-Unit.=20
The repair helps a couple of days and than the failure returned.
I wrote a email to Yeasu Europe, but they couldn=B4t give me
any advices only to send it to them.
I did it....and in less than 2 weeks later it was repaired and I=20
got the transceiver back.
Up to now the failure didn=B4t occure anymore.
The Yaesu Europe Service was simple phantastic.
Emails were answered imediately (sometime in hours).
I got by Email a confirmation that the transceiver arrived at=20
Yaesu and I got finish report after the repair work with the parcel=20
nummber to track it via the internet.
The repair workflow:
- sent the transceiver on Friday (05.March) to The Netherland,=20
they got it on Monday. I received by email a reception
confirmation.
- Yaesu exchanged the both relais again (they told me that I
replaced
relays with wrong types....????)
- they did a modification work, =B4that this wouldn=B4t happen=20
again=B4 (?????)
- RX/TX adjustment
- Warranty work, even I try to repair by myself.
- Yaesu sent it back on Tuesday (09. March), got it on thursday

>> "Never heard of the problem and we can't duplicate it"
I didn=B4t hear that from them, but they did a modification and with=20
this I guess the problem is known.
I do not know what kind of modification they did...but up to now=20
it works :-)
I think if the failure is repeatable, they can identify it.
Relays has big advantages versus switching diodes, but when I read
the
experiances here with the FT-1000MP it seems that the relays at the=20
RF-Unit are quite sensitive.
Is it possible to demage this relays because high RF-voltages
sneaking into
the transceiver due to several antennas which are close together?
I do not have large space for antennas...could be this a reason for
the=20
failures?
Only to be a guesswork.......
73 and bye...
