Interestingly, I have had the exact same problem for some time. It =
started,
as you described, with the radio going "deaf" only occasionally, but it =
got
worse. Just as you mentioned SUB VFO B doesn't seem to be affected. As =
it
got worse, I think that this same problem began to give a harsh note to =
many
signals on CW.
I finally got disgusted and called Burghart. I sent it to them and got =
it
back after about 30 days. It still had the problem. I called them back =
and I
returned it (no charge) for another 30 days. They seemed to have =
difficulty
getting it to reproduce. I am not so sure that it is a relay problem.=20
I have had the radio back for a while and I have still had two or three
re-occurrences of the problem but it seems much better. (It happened =
this
morning while I was calling 3B9C.) Apparently, it is not so easy to fix.
Hitting a dit or turning off and on doesn't seem to affect mine.
I decided not to send it back again. (Burghart even offered to make a =
good
deal on a new radio/trade-in. I think they are a pretty good company.)
Finding an intermittent problem that happens every two or three weeks is
pretty hard, and I don't want to give up my radio for six months. One of
these days it will fail and I'll send it back.
