I'm working on eliminating the 500/250 problem from within WriteLog.
SM6CNN has used Macro Express to automate the process I outlined in a
separate post on the 500/250 in AFSK/PKT/RTTY topic. I only had a brief
time to try it before NAQP RTTY and ran into problems. I believe that
the problem is localized to the area between the fingers and the chair.
During NAQP I grudgingly manipulated Menu 5-4 to switch filters and
found that, while not a truly desireable solution, it was way better
than not having one or the other filters.
At the start of the contest I dialed up Menu 5-4 and set it to 8.2 with
the Main VFO knob. This selects the 250 Hz filter (I have just one, the
8.2). When I wanted the 500 I hit Fast Enter, turned the Main VFO knob
to select 500H (didn't have to reselect menu 5-4, the rig remembers the
last menu selection until it is powered off) and then hit Enter. To
complete the filter selection I then hit Nar1 followed by Nar2.
Not great but better than nothing. The fact that I don't have to
reselect Menu 5-4 is a big help. When I get the automated solution
working I'll announce it.
