Hello All,
The SWR at the antenna never changes (unless antenna falls down) but your
readings will change when you measure it at different distances along the
feedline. For example: A yagi antenna at the feedpoint is 1.5:1 SWR, if you
measure the SWR 20 feet away it might read 1.3 and at 21 feet an SWR of 1.2 and at
22 feet 1.1. The real SWR at the antenna is still 1:5:1. Also the SWR will
never appear higher on the feedline then it actually is at the antenna, it will
only appear correctly or lower. If you remember back to your velocity factor
of coax, this has everything to do with measuring the SWR at the correct spot
on the feedline.
On a brighter note, stop worrying about idiosyncrasies and get on the air and
have fun.
