[1000mp] Locked up MP

Check the mic cable and socket connections behind the front panel for
intermittent shorts, solder chunks, etc.  I had (still have) an 'MP that
would freeze, suddenly go into scan mode, all sorts of stuff.  I traced it
to a "factory installed" solder piece between the pins of the mic jack.
Removed the stray pieces, problem went away and hasn't returned.

A friend has an MP with non-functioning front panel buttons and LED's.  The
Display and VFO knobs work OK.  It receives and transmits.

Any ideas?
