[1000mp] FT1000MP + soundcard interface

Hello group,
 
I recently got myself a secondhand FT1000MP.
 
Now I need advise interfacing my PC's soundcard to the rig.
 
I don't want to use the PATCH rca input because it mixes the audio with the
front mic input, don't need that to happen.
 
Leaves me two possible choises, either the PKT input (5pin din plug) or the
DVS input (7 pin din plug).
 
I would like to get some advice on how to proceed, what input is best, and
do I need additional menu settings to setup, what mode button is to be used
etc...
 
I will use MiwW to run digi modes like PSK31 f.e.
