The service manual has you set the IF gain using only 1 block on the
s-meter lit with a +11dbu source.
Now not having a calibrated signal source I had go in reverse to find
the proper point.
How I did mine was to inject a signal from my signal generator then
adjust the amplitude of the signal generator until I had just 1 block
on the s meter lit (doesn't take much signal).
Then with the IF mod in place and without changing the signal generator
settings that were made above I re-adjusted the IF gain to try to get
to the same point (only 1 block lit)
When I started My 9-1 setting was 13 with the mod in place my final
setting turned out to be 10.
Without the mod IF (9-1) = 13 and 1 S-Meter block lit
With the mod IF (9-1) = 10 S-Meter = S 1.5
I tried setting the IF (9-1) to 9 but that setting was too light (no
S-Meter reading at all) and the rig seemed a little deaf.
10 turned out the best for me.
I had earlier spoke with Inrad (George?) and he said the Mod provides 8
db of gain.
Good Luck.
