I got out my HP 606A, warmed it up, and set the Mark V for CW, on 14.100,
with the filter set in the normal setting.

The 606 was in the 100 Microvolt position, (-70 dbm), with the vernier set
for a reading of 50 microvolts on the 606's output meter. [I'm including
this information, in the event that I am not reading the attenuator scale
correctly.] With what I think is 50 microvolts output fed with 50 ohm cable
to the input of the Mark V, I got the following readings:

An IF gain setting of 0 gave me an S - 8.5. IF gain settings of 2 -5 gave
S-9, and then 6 - 8 gave me an S-reading of +5db.
An IF gain setting of 9 gave me + 10, and up from there.

I'm going to set the IF gain to 4 for a while and see how that works. Tom
