Given the relatively minor change needed to eliminate the key click=20
(at least the INRAD mod) and the insignificant change to fix the=20
noise blanker problem, there would have been no incremental cost=20
to Yaesu. Even more extensive modifications could have been made with=20
no cost impact if they were done in the design stage and Yaesu have=20
made other design modifications over the years (the MP/MKV/Field IF=20
and RF boards are all different. =20
It is, quite simply, a case of Japan not listening to the customers.=20
All the effort has been applied to the "decoration" and not the bones.=20
The "features" added between the FT-1000D and the Field have added=20
far more to the cost of the radios than fixing the Keyclick and NB=20
problems. =20
Fortunately for Yaesu, none of the other rigs provide competitive=20
performance ...=20
