[1000mp] question on Mark V antenna tuner

In the cw portion of 80 meters the Mark V tuner will not tune it due to high
swr as shown by the front panel readout. When I press the tuner button for
half second it doesnt even try to match and I get the high swr led. I tried
something else for the first time. I kept the key down and slowly the swr
came to a very low level and the high swr led went out. But the fans came on
very quickly. Is there some danger in doing this and I assume the rig
accepted this swr.
