I recently emailed InRad on a similar question.  Since a
section of there reply seems pertinent I pass it on to you,

    "The steepest skirts are obtained when two filters
having the same
    nominal bandwidth are cascaded.  i.e. You may want to
use two 2100s
    or two 1800s for narrow SSB."

I take this to mean you should get the same 8 MHz filter
width as your 455 kHz filter width.
