I should have noted that I have a Mark-V Field.

I did the "Bonus Mod" AKA "K9AN Mod" this weekend and I would like to share
that I am very pleased with the results. Prior to the mod there
was excessive audio hiss on CW with narrow filters when not using the EDSP
CW Demodulator. The EDSP CW Demodulator has a bandwidth that ranges from 300
Htz to 1500 Htz and that is why the hiss is not really
noticeable when using the EDSP CW Demodulator. I did not like using the
EDSP CW Demodulator because it is too narrow banded for me when tuning for
signals. With the mod installed I can keep the EDSP CW Demodulator off and
have a wider bandwidth available without having the hiss when using the
narrow filters.

BTW, this does not mean that I turn off the main EDSP (menu 0-9), I just
turn off the EDSP for CW Demodulation (menu 7-7). =20

This mod consists of adding a 0.047 uF capacitor across C3015 on the =
audio board. I did this on the top of the board so it was not even =
necessary to remove the board.

I have not done the IF hiss mod and I have never noticed a need for it =
on my particular radio.
I hope that this is helpful to any who may experience this issue.
