Owning a ft-897 - ft-857 and a ft1000mp I looked for a solution to interface
these fine radio's with a solid state Icom linear that I own.
The IC2KL linear and all other Icom linears need 1,2 upt to 8 volts to
switch to the correct band.
Yaesu radio's provide banddata trough a connector named A-B-C-D.
So we build a small interface that reads the yaesu's banddata and makes it
the excact line voltage to provide on the Icom.
Next we had to make sure that the linears PTT could not be pulled to ground
when other bands are selected (50/144/440 on the yaesu's).
And we made sure the PTT line was provided inside the cable, only needing a
separte ALC cable to adjust ALC readings 0 to -4 volts.
The results are great. Whenever a new band is selected on all 3 yaesu's, the
Icom linear also switches to that same band.
This makes a very fast and secure band changing station, ideal for fast
QSY'ing to get first calls when spotted DX.
No manual action required, no tuning, just click the spot and work the
station. Fun to do.

If someone is interested, I can provide the partlist, print layout and
schematics.
Also thanks to PA0RCA for helping me out on this project.
