Hello Hans

Ahh so the review says that "in close-in performance when band conditions are
really crowded". I think the main thing here is Contestors need all the help they can get but a guy chasing DX? Not necessarily -- the Transmitting station is most of the time running split so he can pick out what he hears even if it is partial letters of a call. Technological improvements are great but not for everyone. I had a ham tell me he wanted this because he understood it would help boost the incoming signal - hell he runs a crappy antenna system. Now $150 won't hurt most of us doing a little of experimentation to make something better on the 1000mp or MARK 5 but anyone mis-guided to think it is a cure-all is fooling themselves.

Right now I'd sure like to have a little stock in this roofing filter with the bandwidth it is getting whether it is good or bad.

In RadCom from January 2005, Peter Hart G3SLX wrote in his conclusion:

"In most operating situations fitting this filter will not make much of a
difference. However, those whose interests lie in contests and DXing will
appreciate the improvement in close-in performance when band conditions are
really crowded".

His one-page review is very interesting to read! I can recommend every owner
of the 1000MP to buy this RadCom.
