Bill,
Check your FT-1000MP schematic and you will see how easy a beverage antenna can collect enough signal from your transmit antenna to blow the receiver front end.
KD9SV sells some good gadget's to prevent the problem from occurring.

Bill,
I may be a bit dense, but what is the supposed problem with using Beverages
or any other type of receive only antenna on the receive only antenna port?
I have two MP's with which I have used separate RX antennas exclusively for
Top Band the past 6 years or so, including both trips to XZ. I have never
had a single problem. Please enlighten me. Thanks.

The first question that the fellows at Burhardt asked was if I had been
using a beverage. Around the same time I had put up a 500 foot beverage for
160.
4. Watch out for those beverages.
