Some people always want to see how fast their cars will go, while others 
rarely if ever floor the accelerator. This is also along the lines of 
computer over-clockers, who risk melting their expensive CPUs in search 
of that last measure of performance.

Back in the '70s, I knew a local DXer who ran an SB-200 between his 
exciter and his SB-220. I don't recall hearing complaints about the 
sound of his signal, but I'm guessing it wasn't very clean! I do recall 
wondering why I could never beat him in a pileup. That was before I saw 
his station.

Personally, I wouldn't risk cooking an expensive radio by trying this 
mod, but obviously not everyone is as conservative as me.
