[1000mp] Why?? Difference between TCXO-4 & TCXO-6???

Last year I purchased a TCXO-6 from HRO and installed it in
place of the stock TCXO-4 in my Mark V. I noticed that it was
visually identical to the TCXO-4. There would be no way to tell
the two apart if they were compared side by side. Has anyone
else noticed this? Is the TCXO-6 really just a TCXO-4 that has
been hand selected for stability?

"You will see, that the Mark V, with its standard TCXO, has the same

the Mark V, is twice as accurate as the standard TCXO-4 that the factory
places in the Mark V radio."

The specs (i.e., "2.0 ppm", "0.5 ppm", etc.) are not measures of accuracy
as Dale states. They are measures of stability (amount of frequency
drift of the oscillator with a change in temperature of one degree C).
The accuracy of any oscillator TCXO-4, -6, or whatever) is determined by
how closely you adjust its frequency.
