Ok Craig. I gave a quick look at the 857 on the web and 
not the 897. Even still Yaesu totes the 857D as ready for 
60M. I would think most modern rigs are stabile enough. Certainly the audio
guys are excluded as they usually run on other hf bands. I couldn't find
anything that deemed a tcxo as required.

Mike you are correct!!, the FT-857D has the dsp included the FT-897D
includes the TCXO according to Yaesu's website. Craig WA2TWF
