Hi John,
I could find it useful in different circumstances.
A transmitting friend half mile distance booming in at 7 and
I am listening for dx on 3.8 for example. The ant tuner in rx
path doesn't help much because it's T configuration (high pass).
During a contest in multi transmitter set up or environment.
Or after detecting overload front end MkV on 7 when you need
high sensitivity for weak stations.
Between 7.1 and 7.3 we do have many BC stations here with
plenty of power. A very excellent antenna delivers volts (!)
as vector sum.=20
A small amount of detuning VRF to the lower side reduces sensitivity
at 7 MHz a bit but reduces stronger 7.3 (sloping passband edge).
It's not so often but from time to time.
The last dB is like health insurance. If we dont need it it's very
expensive.
