Thanks for the additional information. It is unexpected. I shall
listen for clicking in the headphones. I may have been ignoring such
clicking, which I simply do not remember. (I am using the non-relay
(BJT) keying provided by the Mark V with shift always in the middle
position.)

Yes, exactly. In full QSK the 500Hz Collins filters sound better than
the
400Hz filters. There is less clicking heard in the phones. Also, I find
the 500Hz width and less steep skirts to be better for general operating
and to better for the SUB RX when working DX pileups. I have the 250Hz
filters in NAR 2 should CNDX warrant narrower filters. With the 250Hz
filters, you can use the shift and width controls to get an effective
125Hz
bandwidth.
All CW ops should do either the INRAD or W8JI key clix mod to reduce TX
clix.
