  Hi Markus,
Your problem with the Mark V sounds similar to mine earlier this month.
The
technician spent 3 hours with it and replaced 3 diodes and a relay on the
main rcvr and tuner boards. I had lost the receiver after changing bands
(Low audio, no signals), but the transmitter was still working), High SWR
also. The diodes and relay were identified on my email of May 14th. "Mark
V
  warranty repair".
  Good luck with the repair.

I echo Allan's reply as the same happened to me a few months ago, I
changed
from 10m to 15m running 30watts and basically lost the front end - with
replacement needed of exactly the same parts that Allan mentioned.

This is beginning to sound like a common fault with the Mk5 ??

With all the story's from 1000mp and mark V owners I cross my fingers
everytime I use mine that it'll come on and work. None of my antenna's
have
high swr but there's always the chance of loading into the wrong antenna.
Seems the rig is gimpy on the tuner section and/or swr detection. Along
with
the keyclicks and noise blanker IMD I wonder if I made a wise choice?

  73,
  Randy

I seriously doubt that the vast majority of users ever have a dime's worth
of
problems with any of these radios. Not to worry.

(Likely the same holds true statistically for any of the major brands.)

  All;
With Field Day rapidly coming up, I want to be as prepared as possible,
and
this includes finding the best logging program/rig control I can afford.
While I've played with the demo copy of TRX-Man, and found it to be really
nice, is there anything out there that people like better?

  Thanks!

You might try the DXLab Suite, which includes Commander for transceiver
control and DXKeeper for full-function logging. Commander includes the
RX bandwidth control features of K6SE's "MPWindows" program. It provides
10 banks of 10 memories, and will display frequency-dependent settings
for your tuner and amplifier. DXKeeper is optimized for DXing, but is
used by many for general purpose logging; it tracks and reports progress
for several award programs: DXCC, DXCC Challenge, Toplist, WAZ, WAC,
WAS, WPX, US Counties, IOTA, and grid squares. It can print QSL cards
directly, print QSL labels, address envelopes directly, print address
labels, or upload to eQSL.cc in realtime or in batch mode. LOTW support
is currently limited to batch mode, since a realtime interface is not
  yet available.

Besides transceiver control and logging, the DXLab Suite includes
visualization of your beam heading and the solar terminator along with
rotator control (DXView), DX spot collection and analysis
(SpotCollector), PSK31/PSK63/RTTY support via soundcard (WinWarbler),
propagation forecasting and monitoring (PropView), and QSL route
indentification (Pathfinder). These applications can each be used
independently, but when run simultaneously detect each other's presence
  and interoperate automatically.

All DXLab applications are free, and available via www.qsl.net/dxlab .

      73,

          Dave, AA6YQ

In case anyone is curious, the brochure for ICOM's new ultra high-end HF =
  rig, the IC7800, is at:

This information is only 100% correct.
The other part of the issue is that the
product is continually evolving and the
producer, Dave AA6YQ, is listening. I
have enjoyed the use of this great set
of applications over the past two years
and they are great. I would urge all
DXers and those who just need logging or
etc to check this out. I have yet to
hear of a dissatisfied user. Heck, try
it, it doesn't cost anything other than
  your time. Refunds are guaranteed.

  Larry, AD6ST
