Tnx to all for the responses. Problem turned out to be three bad connections
on the DIN connector pins and the pc board in the Rascal. One that was
especially frustrating was an intermittent short by the ground shield lead
of the DIN connector when pressure was applied to the shroud upon plugging
it in! All working fine now ... finally!!
