[1000mp] Poor panel marking visibility

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who has found it necessary to
use a flashlight to read some of the panel markings. I've had my Mk. V
for four months, and I'm still fiddling with lighting and changing the
height of the radio above the operating table in an attempt to improve
the visibility of the panel markings without compromising other
ergonomic factors. I've never had a radio before that had this problem.
Has anyone come up with a good solution?
