What started me on this issue was a few weeks ago, I visited HRO (my office
is about two blocks from the store) and one of the salepersons who I often
talk with was showing me the IC 746 Pro - I was absolutely amazed at how
well it took out the background noise - it was truly amazing. The DSP in
the Mark V really just changes the sound of the noise - it does not really
go away. It does work fine on CW though. For me, the most distracting and
tiring aspect of radio is the constant background noise.
This SGC seems like it might be viable. It comes in two versions - the high
level, which includes an audio amp on board (I think it replaces the
transceiver's audio board), and the low level, which does not.
Here is the response I got from SGC today:
"Thank you for your email. You can use the low level board for your Yaesu
Mark V. However, the high level could also be used. It would depend on
your preference and internal space available in the Mark V. The high level
board can be installed externally.
"Please let us know if you wish to place your order. We will stand by for
your soonest reply.
"Best regards
SGC, Inc
Customer Service Dept. "
I have sent another email asking for clarification. I'll report back to the
list. Tom W6EIJ
