[1000mp] Receiver Question MP

I'm getting great audio reports on my MP with some of the settings 
suggested on the 1000MP website.
BUT, with current noise levels on 75 meters in the evening, the receiver 
is noisy and the EDSP doesn't seem to help much.....Got any hints as to 
what I'm doing wrong???
Noise blanker off - No help whatsoever on any setting I've ever tried.
Use EDSP NR to first position (is it "a"), very little help.
OR....is it too much to ask to get clear reception given band conditions 
this time of year!?
