Yeah,
it would be nice for YAESU guys to design something like auto-reset to this
feature. I remember being at VE3EJ's place for M/M CQ WW  I couldn't make
any QSO during 5 first minutes of contest because of that. REALLY drove me
nuts!

Pete, I still remember my experience a few months ago which was the converse
of what you describe. I heard a VR2 (Hong Kong) on 160, and I called and
called simplex (or so I thought)without success. He worked all the other
locals who called him except me, and then went QRT. Shortly afterwards I
discovered that I had been transmitting split, with a 10 khz spread, from
the last time I had used to the rig on 160, and didn't notice when I came on
that the rig was still set for split operation. That was the first and last
VR2 I had ever heard on 160. It was a hard reminder that I have to be
careful to check to see whether the rig is set for split operation.
