[1000mp] which grounding is better?

Yaesu FT1000MP and VL-1000 amp.
I'm getting a bit of rfi in the Monitor of the MP.

I presently have a heavy braid that connects the MP, the amp, and an outside
groundrod which is very close, right through the wall
It's maybe a total of 5 feet of 1" wide braid. The other end of the braid
goes to my cold water pipe.
Now I know that solid copper strap is better.

But my question is. Is making a loop like this beneficial or should the rig
and amp have their own ground strap to the same ground rod or different
ground rods?

I'm wondering if there is a slight difference in the grounding of the MP and
the amp and that could be contributing to the rough sound in the monitor.

BTW. the rfi effect varies with the direction of the antenna.
