[1000mp] QUADRA question

Hi Dennis,

Here is a check you can perform. Select 6m at the MkV. Tune to 28.1 MHz (for
50.1 MHz from the FTV-1000); the Quadra should display 50 MHz. Then press [F
SET}. The amplifier should key the MkV and the transverter for a second or
so; the exciter should in turn key the Quadra; relay clicking should be
heard; and when the process (band-setting cycle) is complete, the system
should unkey, and the Quadra should display the frequency to within 0.1 MHz
(e.g. 50.1 MHz).

If the auto-bandsetting cycle does not commence, the Band Data 2 cable may
be faulty or improperly connected. If the cycle commences but takes too long
(up to 10 sec.) and does not change the frequency display on the Quadra, the
FTV-1000 may not be delivering sufficient drive for correct frequency
counting in the Quadra. At least 80W drive is required.

The following web page may be of some help:

<http://www.qsl.net/ab4oj/quadra/interface_mp.html>

Typically, Error # 1008 is displayed when the excitation frequency is
outside the band to which the Quadra is set.

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Subject: [1000mp] QUADRA question

Hi Gang,

I have just received a QUADRA and it is working great except for 6 meters.
The set up is, FT1000MP MARK-V, FTV-1000 transverter and than the VL-1000
QUADRA. Band switching and everything works until I get to 6 meters when I
get this error message #1008 (Conflicting Band Selection). It works in the
through mode but when I switch to operate I get the error message. The
transverter is set to 50-52, the MARK-V is set to 28.125 and the QUADRA
shows 50 MHz. I have tried setting the MARK-V to show 50 MHz via the 3-3
menu but still have the same error message. I have checked and re-checked
the connections and all seem to be in order. I called YAESU and they said
DUH.

Thanks,
Dennis AB8NI
