I've found that on CW, my 599zx seems to do a better job than the dsp on the
Mark V, and on SSB, I use a little bit of dsp on the Mark V, and a little
(the aggressiveness is set to 1 or 2) on the 599zx. On the digital modes,
the 599 is much better for controlling QRM than the Mark V. However, for
short sessions, or casual listening, I just use the Mark V's dsp.

One thing that I have been using quite a bit lately, is the VRF. After
reading the manual, I had the impression that the VRF was just for a
multi-transmitter station, as in a contest. However, it can lower the S-7
noise here on 80 meters to zero. The signals are also attenuated, but
usually much less than the noise; there is quite an increase in the SNR.
Unfortunately, it does not work on 60 meters, or bands above 20 meters. It
does lower all the S-meter readings. Tom W6EIJ
