`RE: [1000mp] Anyone use a FT1000MP MK5 Field on the 5mhz channels

I have tried the antenna tuner into a dummy load and it performed correctly
(not much of a test). Then I tried it on the five channels. The VSWR of the
antenna varied from 1.8:1 at the low end to 2.4:1 at the high end of the
channels. All five could be tuned to less than 1.5:1 with the internal
FT1000MP tuner.
That test simply says that it 'works' as far as the SWR meter is concerned.
There may be other considerations. However, with a 50 Watt ERP (peak I
assume), we probably are not stressing the tuner components very much.

I set my FT-1000MP menu 9-9 to GEN and it transmits fine on the new
60-meter band. I don't see why the MK5 Field would be any different.
On 5405 kHz (the only 60-meter "channel" the USA shares with the UK) it
works fine.
I would be hesitant to use the radio's built-in antenna tuner on
60-meters because perhaps there might be some component value in the
tuner which doesn't like 5.4 MHz. Maybe someone can confirm that it's ok
to use the antenna tuner before we all rush off to try the new band.
