Blake,

<<I just can't stand the thought of hacking into my expensive rig "cause everyone else is".>>

Don't hack into your rig until you confirm the problem by listening on another rig. It's easy to do. The problem was
obvious on my MkV (a total of about 3KHz wide) and the INRAD mod made an equally obvious and substantial improvement (<
800Hz wide).

Many other rigs of various makes and models are as bad or worse clickwise. The Yaesu 1000 rigs are taking the rap
simply because they are so popular among contesters, and contesting, with all the closely spaced sigs, is where it
matters most. For non-contest situations, it is a non-issue, IMO...although its always nice to have a clean a sig a
possible.

BTW, About hacking into your new rig...I doubt the boards in your rig are pristine. Mine had mods and parts tacked on
at the factory and the workmanship was not a tidy as mine. The INRAD mods very simple and minor. The only scary part
is digging into the rig but as long as you go slowly and carefully, it's no big deal. In fact, it's rather nice to see
what's inside that big black box and gain some familiarity with it.
