[1000mp] Sticky relay?

Roger:

I have had that problem with my MP, and, based upon reporting that
previously and getting back responses, I (and you) are not alone. Several
guys have confirmed having the same problem. I first experienced that
problem operating from 3B9R in 1999 with my then-new MP, still on warranty.
I sent it to Yaesu when I returned home.

Despite detailed instructions how to replicate the problem, the Yaesu tech
claimed never to be able to see it. Nonetheless, he replaced a bunch of
components, including a relay or two. As seems to be Yaesu policy, the
components were returned to me, but not identified. So I have no idea what
he replaced. Whatever he did appeared to have mitigated the problem at the
time.

However, the problem has reappeared here with the same frequency as in
1999--once in every 10 to 50 transmissions. I think it is pretty clearly a
sticking relay. I sent an email to Chip some time ago asking whether I would
be charged for repair if returned to Yaesu, since permanent repair was not
accomplished the first time. No answer from Chip. Take a guess.

The problem is annoying---not yet to the point of hurling the radio, but
getting there. That problem, combined with the clicks I know I have, has
soured me on the radio.
