The ATU in my MkV works in 10.24 kHz segments.  As you turn the dial =
thru a band you will see the "tune" indicator come on  briefly every =
10.24 kHz.  For the 40m band I might tune the rig at 7001, 7075 and 7150 =
kHz.  The tuner will automaticlly interpolate the tune between those =
frequencies.  This uses up 3 of the tune memories.  I can retune the =
antenna anywhere in the 10.24 kHz band that each of the frequencies lies =
within and it will replace the stored value in the memory, not use up =
another one.  So, as Earl points out, the important thing is to remember =
which frequencies you used to tune ATU.

On some bands, my antennas have rapidly changing impedance and will need =
to have a tune stored at smaller intervals.  For others, I tune at only =
each end of the band.
