Well ... as we look for that missing needle in the haystack together,
yes and no ... what the dummy load MAY indicate is WHERE the
cause of the problem is ... and I DO agree with your observation
that there's some RF being generated at some FREQ other than
80m ... the question at focus here is ... is the cause INSIDE the
MP, or something OUTSIDE the MP?

I have run into this on one of the MPs here ... but on 10m ... or
10m is where it seemed to pop up. Same thing ... the HIGH SWR
would show up ... no output, etc. I think <as in I've not seen any
more problems now in awhile, knock on wood!> my issue was
related to some loose grounding that I had forgotten to reconnect,
as it was driving me crazy trying to track it down. Into the DL, it
was OK ... into the matrix of amp/antennas ... it was random.

Something ... was allowing, or causing the MP to 'take off' ... that
I am pretty certain of ... and that sure seems what you are facing.

We are simply working our way down a list of possibilities ...
