[1000mp] Mk V FP-29 failure

I just came back into my shack after being out of it for an hour or so, to 
discover my Mark V dark and no pilot light on the front of the FP-29.  Its 
case is also quite hot to the touch, but the fuse did not blow, and there 
is a sharp chemical smell in the air.

Has anyone had something similar happen, or any suggestions about where to 
start troubleshooting -- or do I just open it up and look for signs of 
destruction?
