Billy raises an interesting point. How can one get an authoritative list
of the factory bulletins issued on the 1000MP family of radios, much less
the bulletins themselves? Yaesu doesn't seem to make them available, which
says something... Now that a substantial secondary market is developing on
1000MPs and even Mark 5s, it would certainly be nice to know the kind of
thing that Kenwood routinely provided, which was a schedule of when
production changes were applied and which serial numbers incorporated them.
I'm not aware of anyone authoritative at Yeasu who has addressed this
subject, though individual technicians have told me on the phone that this
information is "internal use only." I've tried e-mailing Chip Margelli and
never even got a "we're thinking about it" reply. Maybe if a number of us
raise the issue with Chip at Dayton we can get something done.
